Part 120: Mandy and Boone

Mandy strode through the soft grass. The nice guy called Hurley told her where Boone might be found. He was in the jungle gathering wood for some unknown reason, is all the huge man could tell her. Mandy did like Hurley and the way he carried him. It was like a giant teddy bear; she had to resist the urge to hug him every time she saw him.

As she turned around a gathering of trees, there he was in the distance. He was pilling wood after piece of wood onto a giant tarp. He had no shirt; just the sweat dripping off his face. Mandy hid behind a tree, staring at him. Boone took his shirt, then wiped his sweat off his face. As he placed it on, his face was immediately uncovered for a brief second; long enough for him to spot Mandy behind the tree. “Hey!” he laughed.

Mandy abruptly hid behind the tree. She giggled to herself for the stupid action. Why was she bothering to hide from him? She didn’t move as she heard him. As he approached the tree, he slowly paced around to face her as if they were playing hide and seek. “Found you.” He smiled with his bright eyes.

“Yes,” she exhaled.

Boone slowly approached her. He had no reason to do what he was doing but there was something about Mandy he couldn’t explain. He needed to be close to her. She continued to back away from him, as they circled the tree. “When Jack found the first half of the plane, I asked if he found any survivors,” Boone whispered, “I was hoping you and your friend made it.”

“I was hoping you made it too,” Mandy flickered her eyes, “You were nice to me and my friend Taylor.”

“I just wanted to help. Anybody would have done it.”

“True but . . .not anybody did.”

“No, they didn’t.” he smiled.

Mandy slowly touched his chest. She had to feel him; to make sure this wasn’t a dream. Boone gently reached up and touched her hand, holding it to his chest. Mandy almost felt weak in the knees. “My heart seems to be beating a little faster than normal.” Boone commented.

“Are you real, Boone?” she asked, “I don’t understand . .why I could be falling for you so fast.”

“I assure you, I am real. And I am just confused as you are. I only met you yesterday and yet . . . .I feel like I have been searching my whole life for you.”

“What do we do?” she said.

“What anybody should do in a situation like this.”

Boone slowly leaned forward, bringing his lips closer to hers. Mandy felt his breath caress her upper lip, making her heart flutter. Then her nerves shot on fire at the taste of his touch. She leaned inward, trying to consume him. Mandy kept her eyes closed the whole time, slowly hugging his neck. She even moaned as she felt his hands gently rest on her hips. He pulled her close, wondering how he could have fallen in love so easily with a girl he barely knew. At that particular moment, Boone didn’t care.

Elsewhere, Taylor and McKay were walking amongst the jungle, getting an understanding of the land. They were even holding hands; something they only started to do recently. Taylor wondered if their love would survive past the island. She was thankful for finding him; thankful for the magic created between them. McKay enjoyed looking at her; her beauty was beyond measure to him. Taylor wanted to say something to him but then a sight out of the corner of her eye caught her attention.

She immediately grabbed McKay and pulled him behind a tree. He was about to say something but she quickly put up an index finger over his lips. “Shhhhh.” She told him.

“Taylor, what’s going on?” he whispered.

Taylor leaned over and looked in the distance. McKay then twisted his head around to see Boone making out with Mandy. He blinked and then brought his head back from view trying to keep from chuckling. “Holy shi-“ he was trying to say.

“How is that possible?” Taylor interrupted him, “She’s kissing him NOW? They only met yesterday!”

“Maybe they see eye to eye?” McKay grinned.

“That’s not funny, McKay. She’s moving too fast. She barely even knows him.” She said, facing her lover.

“Oh, come on now, Luv.” The Australian grinned, “Haven’t you ever heard of love at first sight?”

“That’s crazy, McKay. Such a thing doesn’t exist.”

“Oh, it does. It’s just very rare.” He said, taking her hand and leading her away, “Let’s leave them alone. I kinda they think they both deserve their moment.”
