Part 431: Presents

“What the hell?” Seth said, as he held up the action figure in his likeness.

Charlie then burst out laughing at his reaction, to the point where he felt off the couch and landed on the carpet below. The front singer for Turboshaft just looked at his friend and realizing he was behind this. “Charlie, is this a joke?” he asked him, holding up the package.

“No, it’s no Joke,” Charlie laughed, holding his stomach, “Merry . . . MERRY CHRISTMAS, GUYS!!”

“You authorized McFarlane Toys to do actions figures . . .of Turboshaft?” Dutch asked.

“Nice abs.” Karleigh joked looking at her fiance’s figure.

“This looks nothing like me!” Seth said, holding the figure as his wife and son laughed near him.

“My boobs look too big.” Shanna showed Sawyer.

“It’s a shame art doesn’t imitate life.” The redneck joked.

The redhead teasingly punched in him the arm, as the families continued to unwrap their presents to each other. Jack opened the gift he receive from Kate. It turned out to a tie but it was a comic book Flash Gordon tie. He laughed as the former fugitive said he could use some flash at his job. Jack then gave her his gift. She opened it up and it was a sticker book with tons of stickers. The significance of the stickers were they were all the states; a friendly reminder of her roaming days. She thanked him and kissed him on the cheek.

John unwrapped his present from Tony which turned out to be a nice flannel shirt. Marita showed of her new bedsheets from the Riggs family. Tony unwrapped his present from John which turned out to be the original Daredevil movie staring Ben Affleck. ”I’ve never seen it.” The doctor mused.

“You were a much better Daredevil on the Island than he was in the movie, Tony.” The archer commented.

“Yeah but I’m pretty sure now that I can see I don’t need such things anymore.”

Before Tony could reached, he reached up and caught something flying toward his face. It was another small present. Marita had jumped because she never saw it coming and technically, neither did Tony. The one-eyed doctor looked over at the smirking face of his friend McKay. “You were saying?” the Australian grinned.

Eddie patted his mentor on the back, glad that some of the magic from the Island was still with him. The doctor just shook his head and opened the small gift tossed to him by his friend. As he opened it up, it was revealed that it was a pocket knife; with a hawk burned onto the side. “Cool!” Tony laughed, “Thanks, McKay.”

“I figured it was safe to give you a blade now that you aren’t blind anymore.” The bald man laughed.

Tony then stood up, and reached into his pocket. Then he held out his hand to McKay to shake it. After they shook it, he realized the doctor had placed something in his hand. It was a simple quarter. However, McKay knew exactly why he gave it to him. “The coin!” he laughed, tossing it into the air and catching it in one fluid motion, “I wasn’t aware you knew that old tradition.”

“What tradition?” Taylor asked.

“When a friend gives another friend a blade, he’s supposed to give him a coin in return,” Tony smirked, “That way it won’t sever the friendship.”

“Is that for real?” Marita smiled.

“You betcha.”

“You men and your freaky traditions, I swear,” Taylor muttered as she opened up her own gift.

After the blonde had opened it, it turned out to be lingerie. It was a gift from Mandy and Alexander. Taylor then held it up toward herself but realized something was definitely wrong with it. “Uh, Mandy?” she asked.

“Yeah, hon?” her best friend replied.

“This bra is way too big.” She held it up.

“Not in a few months it won’t be.” She giggled.

Taylor then blushed severely as she understood her friend was talking about her pregnancy. McKay laughed at the joke and held her as she giggled uncontrollably.

Elsewhere John opened up his gift from Jack, which turned out to be a playset of cowboys and Indians. He even wrote on the side of the box; Which one are you technically? He laughed at the confusion considering he was married to a Native American. Mia then opened up her next present and she then sighed when it was a journal. The reason she was rolling her eyes is that it was her sixth one this evening. “You guys,” she whined with a smile, “I’ll never fill out all these journals.”

“You’re the note taker of the family,” Seth laughed, “You’re supposed to.”

“I’ll help you fill them out, Mommy,” Shelley said at her feet, sitting before her.

“Thank you, sweetie. I know you will.”

“OMEGA TROLL!!!” Brendon screamed as he held up his new toy.

“And here I thought he wasn’t that big into War Knights.” Seth told his wife.

“Is that what they are called?” Tanya said, shrugging her shoulders, “I can’t keep track of these guys from one fad to the next.”

Barbara smiled and embraced Jilly after accepting her present. She had gotten her a first addition copy of Murder in Storyton by Russell Freeman. Since they were a part of the same publishing house, it was easy for her to get a copy, not to mention have him sign it. Kellye laughed at the fake policemen’s hat that Jenny gave her. Raven was already browsing the book of poems by Edgar Allen Poe; given to him by Jack. Jenny laughed at the DVDs of cheap Ninja movies given to her by Sawyer. Chance thanked Hal for the Anniversary Edition DVD of his favorite John Wayne movie; Hondo. Hurley got a kiss from his wife over her gift of the new IPOD TRIO, with vid screen.

Everyone was truly enjoying the spirit of Christmas.

Outside, Bonnie was on the massive porch overlooking the flower garden. Since California didn’t get cooler till later, it would be another few weeks before the flowers start dying over winter. She tucked her red-hair over her shoulder as she looked into the night sky. Her soft eyes wandered the night sky, searching for something specific. “What are you looking for?” Eddie asked her.

She smiled as she saw her boyfriend at the entrance to the porch, leaning up against the doorway and his hands tucked into his coat pockets. “The North Star,” she whispered, “The one that the Wisemen followed to find the baby Jesus.”

“Really?” he smiled, as he walked over to stand next to her, “ And why would you be looking for such a thing?”

“I wanted to make a wish. I do it every Christmas.” She giggled.

Eddie then looked up toward the sky at the stars they were able to see. He blinked as he continued to gaze at the nighttime. The young man then pointed toward the specific one. As he did, it flickered slightly. Bonnie gasped at what she just saw. “There it is,” he pointed.

“Eddie, how did you do that?” she whispered.

“Make your wish,” He said.

“No, tell me, how did you make that light flicker? Is got something to do with your ability to know exactly when it’s going to rain?”

“You better make your wish, Bonnie,” he said coyly, “ I’m not sure I could find it a second time.”

The redhead smiled and then stared up at the sky. She then closed her eyes and held them that way for a few seconds. After she opened them, she then turned to her boyfriend and gently caressed her cheek. “Oh, look,” she giggled, “It came true.”

Eddie then pulled her closely and kissed her. The young girl placed her arms within his jacket and held him closer as well. The couple’s lips slid against each other’s in their loving embrace. What they didn’t know as that Barbara and Jilly were looking from the kitchen windows. The older redhead couldn’t be happier, almost to the point of tears. Her deaf friend by her side, pulled her with her so they could allow the teenagers some privacy.

As they held each other, Bonnie leaned her head closer to his chest; hearing his heartbeat. When the rubbed his back, she bumped into something hard within his jacket. It didn’t feel like it belonged. The young man chuckled over the fact that she bumped the item. “What is that?” she asked.

“Merry Christmas, Bonnie,” he smiled down at her.

The redhead grinned up at him, then helped herself by reaching into his jacket pocket and pulling out a long black case. She then opened it to reveal a silver bracelet. She gasped at the beauty of it. At the middle of the bracelet was a Japanese symbol. “It’s called the harusame.” He told her.

“What does it mean?” she asked, placing it on her wrist.

“It means, spring rain.” Eddie smiled.

Bonnie paused as she put it on and then looked at him. Her smile became brighter when she understood why he chose that name. “Just like the day we first met.” She giggled.

“I’ll never forget that day.” He promised.

“Neither will eye,” she embraced him, “I love you so much, Eddie.”

“I love you too, Bonnie,” he kissed her on the cheek, “I feel like I’ve known you all my life.”

The couples enjoyed their silence out in the coolness of the California December night. Bonnie then opened her eyes at the hearing a tune. A tune she was all too familiar with. It was Turboshaft’s song “All Night Long”, but she was a big enough fan to realize it was Seth no Charlie singing it. It was someone else and they were singing it badly. “Is . .is someone singing in there?” she asked.

“Yes,” Eddie laughed, “Someone IS singing.”
