Part 231: Tony Versus Cedric

Hurley slowly opened his eyes. The smell of putrefaction and smoke were hanging in the air like old bread. He felt unsure to move. The last thing he remembered Seth coming to free them and that was it. What happened afterwards was a little fuzzy. Hurley tried to lean up and as he did, someone leaned up next to him. Joscelyn was leaning up too, with her hands above her head. “Hey,” she whispered.

“Hey,” Hurley replied.

“You okay, Hurley?” she asked.

“I think so. What happened?”

“Seth was coming to free us and you fainted. Locke and Jack dragged you out to the woods here.”

“That must explain why my back hurts and I have a hell of a wedgie.”

“They are still in the compound,” Joe pointed, “I didn’t want to be anywhere near it so I came to hide with you.”

“No shame in hiding, Joscelyn,” the large man rubbed his forehead.

The sound of gunfire echoed in the distance. Joe backed her head back down, hoping that hiding would keep them safe. Then several heavy footsteps started running toward them. Hurley looked up, and saw the upside down images of Seth, Mandy and a blonde kid he didn’t recognize. “HURLEY!” Seth called, “You alive?”

“Last I checked, dude.” He replied.

Seth, Mandy and Alexander stopped and crouched low into the tall grass with them. Seth was panting, trying to regain his breath. Mandy was still in a little shock of hanging literally for dear life at the top of a silo. Alexander wanted to go back and kill more soldiers but he felt it better to stay with the people who saved his life. Joe looked up at the blonde kid, amazed by his physique. “You okay?” Mandy asked her.

“I’m fine, thank you,” she smiled.

“She using you as cover, big man?” Seth patted Hurley on the belly.

“Ha, ha, dude,” he said, with a grunt, “Is it over yet?”

“Not yet. There are still a handful of soldiers in there. The rest of the guys are mopping up and I felt it better to check on you.”

“Appreciate that,” he said, leaning up.

As Hurley got into an upright position, he did notice something strange about Seth. “Dude,” he whispered.

“Yo.” Seth looked at him.

“are you all right?” the large man asked.

“Yeah, I am fine. Why?”

“Are you sure . .cause . . .your side is like bleeding and stuff.”

“Seth?” Mandy overheard with concern.

Seth curiously looked toward his right side, then his left side. On his left was a torn piece of his shirt with blood slowly oozing out. He tilted and raised up his shirt to see a small gash torn in the side of his ribcage. “Holy monkey crap,” he raised his eyebrow, “How the hell did that happen?”

“You better keep pressure on it,” Mandy replied, tearing off a piece of her shirt and giving it to him.

“Ow, ow, ow,” he grunted, placing the cloth there, “Ain’t that the strangest thing? I get wounded and I didn’t even know it.”

“Dude, you better be thankful it wasn’t a full blown gunshot.” Hurley barked.

“Relax, Hurley,” the singer winced, “We got this thing in the bag. It’s not like anybody else is having difficulties.”

Tony screamed in agony as he felt Cedric’s finger trying to dig into his remaining eye. The crazed wild boy wanted revenge for the doctor taking his eyes previously. He wasn’t sure how Belmont managed to give them back but it was a story for another time. Provided he lived through the next few moments, he might just research it.

Marita then screamed as he leaped onto Cedric’s back. The French boy let go of Tony as he struggled with his girlfriend. The Latina was scared out of her mind but she wasn’t about to let the psycho ruin any future she and he would have together. The Frenchman grunted as he felt her nails rake over his face. He then grabbed her by the arm and flung her toward the ground.

Marita grunted heavily as she felt her spine connect with the ground. Cedric then snatched her by her collar and flung her toward a nearby cabin. The Latina banged her head on the wall of the building. She turned just in time to catch Cedric’s hand as he nearly stabbed her. She gritted her teeth, trying to keep his hand away from her but he was much stronger. Marita then started to panic as he began to slowly move the blade toward her private area. “I’ll make you useless to him.” Cedric hissed, through clenched teeth like a crazed lunatic.

Cedric then jolted as Tony grabbed him in a headlock. The Frenchman dropped his knife and grabbed the arm of his opponent. The doctor fought to get him away from Marita. The two men twisted around and then landed back on the cabin wall. Tony had removed his blindfold so he could see as much as he could. Cedric got his footing and thrust back, slamming the blind doctor’s head into a glass plating in door. The doctor winced from the slight pain in the back of his head. But he need an advantage and the wild boy gave it to him.

Tony then punched him across the face and then deep into his kidney. As Cedric screamed, the blind doctor got him by the hair and began to hoist him toward the door, looking directly into the glass plate. “SAY HI TO YOUR OLD FACE, CEDRIC!!” Tony screamed.

“NOOOO!!” the French boy screamed as Tony shoved his face into the glass.

Marita looked in satisfaction as Tony brought Cedric out of the plate glass with shards stuck all in his face and eyes. The doctor was able to see a blurry shape of another glass window in the second door. Tony smiled with an almost sinister delight. “DOESN’T LOOK QUITE RIGHT, HOW ABOUT WE TAKE ANOTHER DIP?” the doctor screamed as he shoved him into the second glass window.

By then Cedric had gone limp. Tony flopped him down to the ground. Marita couldn’t bare to look at the crazed boy anymore as the majority of his face was replaced by blood and broken glass. The doctor panted for air and then shrugged. “What the hell do I know?” he coughed, “I am blind anyway.”

Marita stumbled over toward him and embraced him. Tony collapsed on his knees, hugging her. The Latina wept in his arms. The doctor gently stroked her curly hair, kissing her on the forehead. “You attacked him for me.” He whispered, “Thank you.”

“I wasn’t . . gonna let him . . make you completely blind.” She sniffed.

“My brave girl,” he held her close.

“How touching,” Belmont groaned.

Tony lurched as he felt the barrel of a gun point to the back of his head. Marita gasped but then as she turned she saw Pristine and Moe with guns aimed at her. Tony held onto Marita, unsure how he could protect her. “GET UP!” Belmont demanded.

Tony slowly stood up, holding onto Marita as he did. Belmont grabbed the blind man by the shoulder and shoved him forward. They continued to move away from the fight. Marita was starting to severely panic, worried they were going to be executed. Then Moe ran in front of them toward another building, unlocking the door. Belmont shoved them forward toward the door. “It’s over, Belmont!” Tony grunted, “The Liberation is finished.”

Belmont chuckled, “My dear doctor, you have no idea what you are talking about. The Liberation will never fall.”

Marita guided Tony into the new building. The blind doctor immediately got the whiff of oil and car parts. The Latina was amazed that they had two military grade jeeps. “Tony, they got jeeps,” she immediately told him.

“SHUT UP!” Pristine barked, forcing them toward the jeep.

“Where are we going, Belmont?” Tony asked.

“Far away from here, Tony,” the second in command got behind the wheel, “And you and the love of your life are going to insure I get there.”
