Part 300: Fourth and Final Strike

The soldiers were almost done. They were doing their best to hold their defenses but they were getting over run too easily. It was hard to defend once self against a giant robot and a cloud of black smoke that could hurt you even thought bullets past right through it. One of the soldiers managed to fire a RPG at Mecha but all it did was make him stop for three seconds; it didn’t even dent him. The soldiers tried to make a run for it. Then a flash of blue light and Raven had them by the throats. His steel iron grip could not be broken. He continued to squeeze until their necks snapped like twigs. He gently dropped them to the ground and continued to scan for other soldiers.

Two more soldiers tried to run into the jungle for cover. Then a wild scream echoed from above. Alexander plummeted out of the trees and landed on both of them. Before one soldier could get up, the wild boy twirled his blade; slicing his throat. The other soldier grabbed his gun but by the time he got it pointed at his enemy, Alexander already plunged his knife into the man’s chest. He gagged for a second before his life left him. The wild boy slowly let him drop to the ground. “Alexander!” McKay called.

“McKay.” The orphan smiled, hearing the voice of the one man he trusted.

The bald Australian was in the jungle, running into the distance with Sayid, and Sawyer. He motioned for the wild boy to follow. Alexander quickly placed his blades back in their hilts and ran off to join his friends.

Frakes grunted as he bumped into a tree, holding what remained of his ear. He had to get back to the Outpost, tend to his wound and hopefully recover the remainder of his men. He knew the radio tower was burned down at the Compound, so he had no choice but to find some other form of calling for backup. The unfortunate part was, the next cell of the Liberation, that was the closest was all the way in Russia. There wouldn’t be any normal way they could get to him in time. Frakes paused against a tall palm tree, holding the wound on the right side of his head; feeling the blood escape his fingers. “FRAAAKKKESSSS!!!!!” Mia screamed.

Frakes then bolted, hearing the scream of the young Native American. What was insane was that he could hear her war cry echoing in the distance. “I’m coming for you!!” she screamed, “I’m gonna make you pay for what you’ve done!!”

Frakes then turned and fired at the sound of her voice. Bullets struck the branches and leaves, making them split into smaller pieces. The Liberator then thought he heard something to his right and fire in that direction. He continued to fire until he was out of ammunition. He quickly reached for his clip on his belt. Then he heard a swirling sound in the wind and then grunted as an axe landed in his chest.

He fell back against a tree and gasped for the air that could not save him. Frakes hissed from the pain of the metal sticking in his lung. Mia slowly emerged from the bushes, walking toward him. Frakes looked at her, as he struggled to breathe. “You reap what you sow,” Mia spit on him.

The young Lakota then kneeled and grabbed her axe with both hands to pull it out. Then she grunted as Frakes grabbed her by the throat. His eyes were wild; using what little strength he had left to try to make Mia die before him. Mia coughed, trying to get him to remove his hands from her. He started to hiss, foaming at the mouth. The young woman cough, trying not to black out. Mia squeaked as an arrow punctured Frakes’s forehead, pinning him to the tree. “MIA!!” John screamed, running toward her from the distance.

“John,” she coughed, trying to get the air back in her lungs.

John threw down his bow and landed on his knees; embracing her. She held onto him, glad to see him again. He kissed her gently, holding her close. “Mia, are you all right?” he asked.

“I . .am . .now,” she coughed.

“Who was that guy?” the archer asked.

“Frakes’s brother.” Mia rested on his shoulder, “He . . .ordered his men to kill Rose. Nearly killed Charlie and Aaron too.”

“Oh, my God,” John whispered in disbelief.

“John . . did you see . ..anybody else get hurt?”

“I don’t know. We should head back toward the beach.”

John then helped Mia to her feet. He leaned forward and picked up his bow. The tall man looked silently at the dead soldier. “You want your axe back?” he asked pointing toward it.

Mia looked at Frakes’s lifeless corpse, as the blood began to pour out of both his wounds. The Lakota girl then slowly pulled out her bandana from her jacket pocketed and covered her head like she had done so many times before. “No, “ she sighed, “I don’t need it anymore.”

John held out his hand to his love and she took it. He then pulled her with him as they began to make their way back toward the beach, to make sure their friends were okay.

Natasha slowly opened her eyes. She moaned as she massaged jaw, where the man hit her. She then leaned up and then notice, she wasn’t wearing her own shirt; it was someone else’s. The brunette then noticed that she was surrounded by the others survivors. Taylor and Mandy stood next to each, resting against a rock in the ground. Andra and Flower were hugging Shannon, as the tall blonde tried to comfort them under the sound of the battle. Claire was holding her baby, sitting next to her. Little Aaron cooed as he grabbed a lock of her hair. “Aaron, go easy,” Claire whispered.

“Claire, what’s . .happened?” Natasha asked.

“There was a major battle on the beach,” she said, helping her son to let go of Natasha’s hair, “We all regrouped here while our other friends took care of the soldiers.”

“We didn’t bloody need to,” Charlie replied, “Those freaky monsters are tearing ass up the beach, killing the soldiers for us.”

“Why . .why am I wearing someone else’s shirt?” Natasha then started to feel sick.

“No, Tasha, No,” Charlie put his hand on her shoulder, “Those men didn’t get a chance to hurt you.”

“How do you know?” she started to cry.

“Cause Seth told us,” Claire replied.

“Seth?” she sniffed.

“John took out the bastard before he had the chance. I promise you, he didn’t touch you. He only ripped off your shirt.”

Natasha felt even more sick. She believed Charlie cause she knew if anybody would save her, it would be Sawyer or John. The brunette then started to sway and slowly wrap her arms around Claire. The blonde Australian knew why; she just needed to hug somebody. “That’s it, honey,” she said, rubbing her shoulders, “Let it out.”

Among the group stood the people who managed to get away. Micheal stood with Yolanda, Walt and Vincent, holding his arm around them. He was worried that Jin and Sun were in danger. Clay stood next to one of the trees, crossing his arms. Hal stayed with Libby and Karleigh. Arizona was next to her husband Chance, worried what would happen next. Ana-Lucia looked over to check on Barbara and Jilly, who were still unconscious. Tony had been applying water to their faces gently with Eddie’s help. Then someone screamed as four soldiers jumped out of the bushes.

They all threw up their hands as the men panted, with their guns drawn on them. Hal then slowly walked forward. “Your group is beaten.” He whispered, “You better leave before something bad happens to you.”

“Shut up!” One soldier screamed, “Where is Frakes?”

“We don’t know.”

“Then you ain’t got nothing to tell us.” The soldier hissed, as he cocked his rifle ready to fire.

Arizona then nudged Ana-Lucia who had her hand on her gun belt. The brunette quickly pointed to her husband. Earlier she said she needed Chance to have a gun. The female cop believed the woman, cause of the severe situation they were placed in. She quickly pulled out her gun. “Chance,” she said, getting his attention by tossing him the gun.

“WHAT ARE YOU GIVING ME THIS FOR?” he squeaked as he caught the pistol.

“HEY!” one of the soldiers screamed as he pointed the gun toward Chance.

“Hey, man,” the Texan begged, “I don’t want any-“

CLACKA-BLAM-BLAM-BLAM!!!

“-Trouble.”

Three of the four soldiers collapsed, each with a bullet in their foreheads. The last soldier gasped and then took off running. Hal blinked; not sure what he just saw. Chance had just taken out three soldiers in under three seconds. The Texan looked to his waist and saw the gun pointing toward them. Ana-Lucia smirked at the skill. Judging by the way he stared at his hand, it looked like he thought he didn’t have it anymore. “Chance, how did you . .” Hal asked in disbelief.

“Texas State Western Gun Slinging Champion.” Arizona smiled proudly.

“I hadn’t held a gun in 8 years,” he coughed, “I didn’t think . ..I had it anymore.”

“Clearly you do.” Ana-Lucia smiled.

“What about that guy?” Karleigh pointed in the distance.

“Let him go.” Tony whispered.

“But Tony,” Ana-Lucia turned to him, “He might call for help.”

Then the group turned to hear the man screaming for his life. Impact tremors began to shake the ground as trees swayed from left to right. The Polliwog was clearly in the distance. The man screamed until a loud chomping sound silenced him. The trees shook and swayed as the invisible monster began to making crunching sounds, disappearing in the distance. “No, he won’t.” Tony whispered a reply.

Everyone was silent for a few seconds. Tony gently placed down Barbara’s wrist, hearing her moan. Eddie sat next to Jilly, gently stroking her hand. She grunted, lifting up her other hand to massage her face. “They gonna be okay?” the little boy asked.

“The moaning and grunting is a good thing,” Tony smiled, “Heart rates are back to normal. More than likely when they wake up, it will be due to their headaches.”

Tony stood up and walked a few paces. In the distance toward the area of the beach, gunfire echoed across the trees. He slowly kneeled down and got into a crotch position. The blind doctor slowly picked up small blades of grass, tossing the aside as he did so. Eddie slowly walked up to him, holding his hands at his side. “Is it over yet, Tony?” he asked.

The blind doctor listened to the gunfire as it got quieter and quieter. “Almost,” he whispered.

“I saw you guys got a boat.” The little boy replied.

“Yeah, we did, buddy,” Tony smiled.

“Who’s gonna leave on it?”

“Don’t know yet.”

Eddie looked back to his mom and then back to the jungle. “Will . .things be different went we leave?” he asked.

“They sure will, but it will be in a good way. No body is gonna shoot at us, and nobody is gonna hurt us,” Tony smiled, “Everything is gonna change.”

“I don’t want anybody else shooting at us,” Eddie giggled, “But I think I will miss the adventures.”

Tony then put his arm around Eddie, bringing him closer to him. “You never been to Ohio, Eddie?” he asked.

“I think my dad used to. On his business trips and all,” the little boy replied.

“Well, there is a giant roller coaster there called The Top Thrill Dragster Roller Coaster. I think if I remember my friend correctly, it’s the biggest roller coaster there is.”

“Really?” Eddie smiled.

“Yeah, and I have never ridden it. Probably because I was scared. But you know what?”

“What, Tony?”

“I am not scare anymore. So when we make it back to the normal world, how about you and I head over to ride that thing? That way we can tell the world we are not scared anymore.”

“I would like that, Tony,” he said, hugging him.

Hal smiled at the blind doctor making the boy feel safer and acceptance to change. Hal looked at Libby as she rested on his shoulder. He smiled, wondering how much his own life would change when he got back home. He had only known her a few weeks but the connection was stronger than anything he could ever have dreamed. The cop hope that he wouldn’t lose that when they left the Island. “Eddie?” Barbara asked, as she leaned up.

“Mommy!” Eddie ran to her, happy that she was awake.

Barbara embraced her son, crying that she had not lost him. Jilly struggled to raise up, rubbing her head. Eddie reached over and hugged her around the neck, pulling her toward him and his mother. At the moment, she didn’t have the strength to resist. She simply leaned, patting him on the back. Tony smiled; glad that they were okay. “SHANNON!!!” Sayid screamed.

“Sayid?” she replied, turning around.

The group then got their feet as the Middle Easterner emerged from the woods. He was quickly followed by Sawyer, McKay and Alexander. “Tony?” the Australian called, “ Where Taylor and Mandy-“

The Australian stopped when he saw the two girls standing together. They quickly broke off in a run and ran toward him. He dropped his rifle and embraced them both, as they cried in their hug. McKay took a deep breathing, thanking the Lord they were both safe. Mandy then slowly broke off and looked to Alexander. The wild boy raised his eyebrows, looking concerned. “Mandy . .okay?” he asked, trying to find the right words.

Mandy said nothing. She just started to cry even more. The Californian leaned toward him and hugged him, crying in his shoulder. Alexander slowly rubbed her back, letting her get her cry out. Sayid kissed Shannon the cheek, happy she was all right. Andra then embraced him too; the one man her mother said would take care of her. The Iraqi gently hugged her as well, assuring her everything was going to be all right. Sawyer then walked a few paces, then Natasha saw him. Before he could ask her if she was okay, she quickly hugged him. “Chicago, are you all right?” he asked.

“Please,” she whimpered, “Just hold me.”

“I got ya, darlin. I got ya.” He assured her.

“McKay, what is happening back at the beach?” Tony asked, “Is Marita safe?”

“She is with Kate and Shanna. They never got off the boat.” The Australian replied, “I think the security systems took care of the rest of the soldiers.”

“Why?” Ana-Lucia replied, “Why they help us?”

“Because we are not bad guys.” Eddie replied, stating simply.

Tony smirked. “Sounds good enough to me,” he said, “We better head back, see if anybody needs a doctor. Speaking of which, where is Jack?”

“He’s back on the beach, “ Sawyer commented, “Being the Hero.”

“We better make sure he doesn’t get overworked.” McKay said, taking Tony by the arm and letting him put his hand on his shoulder to head back to the beach.

The group slowly made their way toward the beach area. They traveled in a group; hoping that no one else would get lost. Charlie stayed with Claire and Aaron, as Sawyer held onto Natasha while they walked together. The group started to slowly move into the woods back to their makeshift home.

Clay paused for a second, then reached down to one of the dead soldiers that Chance killed. He gently pulled out his sidearm and tucked it into his back belt. He quickly caught up to the rest of the group before they realized he took a gun from them.
